Tonight, Portland continues its recent run of chefs appearing on the Food Network's competitive cooking show, Chopped. On Jan. 13 Jun Robles of Oven and Shaker was forced to cook with a bargain basket. On Jan. 20 Aaron Barnett of St. Jack had to contend with "bizarre ingredients." And tonight at 10 p.m. Jose Chesa of Ataula gets his turn. What's in the basket? Cheese.
Sounds like he got off easy. Will he be the first Portland chef since Nong Poonsukwattana's win last August to bring home the $10,000 prize?
According to the show, the four competing chefs will have to "make creative use of blue cheese and goats cheese in their appetizer plates." They'll get French cheeses, chicken thighs and garlic scapes in the entree round (yum!). And, of course, there will be some sort of curd-related product for the dessert round.
