Northwest 23rd Avenue is getting its "trendy-third" status back. Today Blue Star Donuts opens the doors to its fourth location, just blocks from other Portland hotspots like Salt and Straw, Saint Cupcake's outpost in the Poplandia shop, and across the street from sister restaurant Little Big Burger. The donuts will be made at the Hawthorne location and delivered to the NW shop four times a day, where the glazing will be done on site.
The space has the same clean, modern feel as the other three locations. Owners Micah Camden and Katie Poppe are christening the opening as they always do, with free food. From 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., or until they run out, the shop will give away one free doughnut per person. Other doughnuts and coffee are available for purchase.
