The Sandy Hut Closes, Changes Owners

Iconic dive bar The Sandy Hut (or Handy Slut, as it is often known) is currently closed and in the process of changing owners. Willamette Week reports that Marcus Archambeault and Warren Boothby, owners of nearby Club 21, Double Barrel, and Gold Dust Meridian are in the process of buying the 92-year-old bar from owner John Berning. The soon-to-be new owners have yet to disclose details on plans they have for the vibrant purple watering hole on NE Sandy Boulevard, including whether or not the space will continue to offer punk and garage band shows.
