Shift Drinks bar is on track to open in mid-May, and the duo behind the epic 90-seat bar in the old Terminal Sales building recently revealed new details about what they have planned. Sommelier Anthony Garcia and bartender Alise Moffatt have hired Garcia's wife, Anne Garcia, to run the food program. "We're excited to be working together on this level finally," says Anthony. "We both worked at Raven and Rose briefly, but more like passing ships in the night. This is the first should-to-shoulder 'in the trenches' type undertaking for us."

The chef has spent time in the kitchens of Paley's Place, Imperial, Raven & Rose, Le Pigeon, and Maurice. "Her approach to food is modest," they said in an Instagram post. "Look for simple, no frills Italian-inspired dishes that make ideal accompaniments to the casual cocktail or glass of wine. All items will be priced at $8 across the board."

They've also decided to transform the upstairs mezzanine into a 24-seat private event space, complete with its own separate, fully equipped kitchen. Dubbed the Makeshift Room, it's a "multi-purpose space to hold collaborative pop-up dinners, guest bartender gigs, educational industry events, and special occasions.... We even have a little pre-fab stand-up bar for bartenders visiting PDX who might want to sling a few drinks for their friends." Check out the giant windows in the under-construction space below.
