Chef Greg Newman to Helm Swift and Union Pub in Kenton

The longtime Portland chef will bring a seasonal slant to the neighborhood spot.

Swift and Union, the Tabor Tavern spinoff coming to Kenton later this spring, has found its chef. Owners Ken "Zig" Naffziger and Kristen Siefkin have hired 20-year industry vet Greg Newman to lead the kitchen.

Newman has spent time in many Portland kitchens, including Ripe, Mingo and most recently Pok Pok. But he's also a certified sommelier who spent four years as the general manager and wine director at Genoa. Newman says he plans to build on the menu Tabor Tavern menu, creating the kind of seasonal pub fare that befits a neighborhood spot, including lunch, dinner and weekend brunch dishes.

Swift and Union (opening late May/early June): 8103 and 8107 N. Denver Ave., Portland
