Marta is one of Manhattan's hottest restaurants, and with good reason. The latest venture from Danny Meyer's ever-impressive Union Square Hospitality Group is highly acclaimed for its wood-fired pizzas made in the super-thin Roman style. And once you have Roman-style pizza, Neapolitan seems downright puffy. You can get a taste of what Portland's been missing on Friday, May 22, when Marta's chef de cuisine, Joe Tarasco, visits Roman Candle Baking for a one-night-only pop-up.
The event is billed as an "Italian evening of pizza, vegetables, Roman-inspired street food and house-made gelato." Tarasco will be in Roman Candle's open kitchen, making Marta-style pizzas from 5pm - 11pm. The event is open to the public on a first come, first served basis.

Then on Tuesday May 26 at Ava Gene's, Departure chef Gregory Gourdet will team up with Ava Gene's chef Joshua McFadden to create a vegetable-centric menu that will be available all evening long. If you want to partake, you better make your reservations now.
