The bar-focused collective behind Sweet Hereafter, The Bye and Bye, Jackknife and upcoming Century, the ambitious sports bar that should open later this summer, are teaming up with craft cocktailer Lisa Hare to open Victoria in the old Trebol/Luchador space.

Hare (formerly of Kask and Jackknife bars) says Victoria — named after her own middle name — will differ from her partners' other bars in one big way: ambience. In other words, expect familiar sights like exposed beams and wide open spaces (including a humungous patio) mixed with more natural light and lighter colors in general.

Hare says she's just starting to tinker with cocktail recipes, but plans to offer a roster of 10 original cocktails and a few specialty classics, like the Last Word, Corpse Reviver, Sazerac and La Louisiane. But she's quick to point out that Victoria will also be an unpretentious space where one can order a vodka soda or a beer and a shot without getting side eyed.

In fact, she envisions a friendly spot where you can show up alone to have a drink on the patio while you read your book, or sit at the bar where and eat a sandwich while having a casual conversation with another patron without feeling like you're getting picked up. Details on the food menu should drop within the next four to six weeks.

If Hare and her business partners sail through the permitting process, Victoria could be open as soon as mid-summer. More details as they become available. Stay tuned.
