After 10 years in business, Peter Bro's Savoy Tavern shuttered last week. The bar with the Midwestern-themed menu next to the original Broder opened in 2005 and had a strong following of regulars. But this statement was posted to its Facebook page on Friday.
After 10 years The Savoy Tavern has closed. Since 2005 we have had the pleasure of serving this great part of the city and have enjoyed every day doing so. The space will be transitioning to another concept that we believe the neighborhood will appreciate and enjoy. We cannot say just yet who the operators will be, but rest assured they are top notch and are excited to become an integral part of the Clinton/Division restaurant community.
Over the winter, the Savoy underwent a bit of a shakeup. Bro added the popular burgers from his All-Way downtown burger joint to its menu. The space was then rechristened "All-Way" during the day, and reverted back to the Savoy and its menu of fried cheese curds at night.
We've reached out for a comment, but no word yet on who will be taking over the space. Meanwhile, if you're a Savoy fan, the bar plans to host one last hurrah this month. To get on the list, call Broder and leave your email address, or email Peter Bro at peterjbro@gmail.com.
