Back in March we got word that Miami chef Micah Edelstein, a Top Chef Miami contestant (season 3) and native of South Africa, was moving to Portland and opening an eclectic brunch spot called The Feisty Lamb. That's still the plan, but the place has changed. Instead of taking over the former Sok Sab Bai space off SE Clinton, she has taken over the former Tributes pizza and subs spot on West Burnside.
"The concept is still the same," writes Edelstein via email. "Brunch, brunch, and more brunch!" With help from local artists Carlos Alejandro and Justin Riede, she's transforming the interior into a vibrant, colorful space as eclectic as her globe-trotting cooking style, and outfitting it with vintage tables, chairs and even suitcases repurposed into shelves. "I raided places like the Monticello Antique Marketplace and Village Merchants," she says. There will also be outdoor seating on the patio, complete with a vertical herb garden. Edelstein plans to open The Feisty Lamb in July, "albeit the exact day is still fluxing."
