Welcome to CascadiaWire, a weekly collection of restaurant news from up-and-down the Pacific Northwest corridor.

FALL TRACKING -- It's been a sweet summer in Seattle. The area has celebrated a number of key restaurant openings with T-Doug's Carlile Room, Ericka Burke's Chop Shop, John Howie's Beardslee Public House, Autumn Martin's Capitol Hill Hot Cakes, and more, but gear up, because the fall is set to be even busier. Ten notable restaurants and a bakery are on their way before now and the end of the year: Local legend Shiro Kashiba is opening his fourth traditional Japanese sushi restaurant in Pike Place, Renee Erickson is debuting a donut shop and two other new concepts, the Marination team is setting up down south, and Josh Henderson is opening the first of at least 8 Great State Burger locations to come over the next year and a half. Eater has a full list of what to look forward to this fall.

OPENING REPORT -- Vegan cuisine maven Makini Howell has announced that her new Sugar Plum vegan sweet shop is open, working out kinks as it prepares for an official soft opening around September 12 or 13. More details are to come, but the soft opening is likely to be some kind of ice cream social next month, where folks can come get a cone or a cup and see the new space. The address is 324 15th Ave E, the former home of Plum Cafe.

OPENING ALERT -- Husband-and-wife team Gabe Wiborg and Yuie Helseth quietly opened Soi last week on Capitol Hill. The couple is serving dishes from the Issan region of northeastern Thailand. Eater has more details, plus the menu.
