After four months of construction, Marché Provisions becomes the greatly expanded Provisions Market Hall today in Eugene. The market is the latest project by chef Stephanie Kimmel, whose European adoration and seasonal approach to cooking transformed Oregon cuisine in the '70s, when Eugene's hippie culture was at its peak. Today, she's best known for her fine-dining restaurant Marché and her Marché Restaurant Group, which also includes Marché Museum Cafe, Le Bar, and Route 5 NW Wine Bar.
Located in the 5th Street Public Market in downtown Eugene, Provisions Market Hall reopens as a nearly 10,000-square-foot market, with a cafe and bar; produce and meats from local purveyors; kitchenware; and cooking classes. According to the market, the idea is that Provisions Market Hall lets you purchase the hard-to-find ingredients used by the chefs within Kimmel's restaurant group, and these range from rare spices to tomatoes from Groundwork Organic Farm.
Inside, the new Blackboard Kitchen cafe and bar offers coffee, as well as seating and prepared dishes, from pizzas to salads. You'll also find meats from Long’s Meat Market and seafood from Newman’s Fish.
Provisions Market Hall is located inside of the 5th Street Public Market at 296 East 5th Avenue, Eugene, OR 97401. Provisions Market Hall is open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
