Earl Ninsom, the man behind Langbaan, and Alan Akwai, the bartender with experience shaking up cocktails at St. Jack and Raven & Rose, will add Hat Yai to the already booming strip of restaurants on NE Killingsworth in the coming months. According to an email sent by Akwai, Hat Yai will serve Southern Thai cuisine, including fried chicken, curries, and roti flatbread.

Currently, Langbaan's tiny dining room is terminally booked. Will Hat Yai be better at keeping up with demand? Akwai confirmed that few details are ready to be released, but we do know that Hat Yai will be located at 1605 NE Killingsworth St. between Podnah's Pit and the newly opened Handsome Pizza and Seastar Bakery. According to its liquor license application, Hat Yai will seat around 40 in its main dining room and have a back area that can seat around 10. The license also says that Hat Yai will offer counter service of some sort.
