Located at 804 NW Couch St., Glyph Cafe & Arts Space announced on Facebook that it has closed. The Facebook message does not cite a reason for shuttering but does vaguely suggest that Glyph may reopen:

We hope to reopen w support from @MayorPDX, project pdx, & the powells in the next little bit

The North Park Blocks have a large homeless population, highlighted by yesterday's article published in the Oregonian, "North Park Blocks: Summer of 'lawlessness' gets Portland's attention." Could homelessness have played a role?

The Oregonian article centers on R2C Group business owner Michelle Cardinal, who has taken pictures to raise awareness of the homelessness issue. Focused on activities in the North Park Blocks, the images include everything from "people defecating" and "having sex" to "doing drugs and sleeping below her stylish Pearl District office's window." R2C Group is located one block from Glyph Cafe & Arts Space.

Eater has reached out to Glyph owner Sandra Comstock for further details, so look here for follow-up coverage. Chef Doug Weiler, currently branching out with the Willow pop-up with John Pickett, has led the kitchen.
