Over the past weeks, the Piknik Park food cart pod, located next door to New Seasons Market in Sellwood, has been gathering steam. Now with eight food trucks and a beer garden, Piknik Park will hold its grand opening October 9-11.
The SE 11th and Tacoma pod balances vegan and veggie-friendly food options and Malaysian, Peruvian, and Mexican dishes. For instance, SushiLove prepares vegan sushi, such as The Lobstrosity Roll, with local and foraged lobster mushrooms, yuzu wasabi aioli, and chia 'masago' (a vegan riff on roe). Polli-Tico serves Peruvian rotisserie chicken; Village Patisserie offers French pastries, as well as sliders and salads; and Bent-Lee’s Kitchen explores the connection between Mexican and German cuisines.
If all goes as planned, the full options will include Frank & Steins, City Slickers Signature Specialties, Devin’s Dive, Essential Whole Juice, Bent-Lee’s Kitchen, Polli-Tico, SushiLove, Straits Kitchen, and Village Patisserie.
