The Society Hotel opened inside of a 134-year-old building at 203 NW 3rd Ave. on November 5, 2015, and besides offering a variety of accommodations, including communal bunks for just $35 a night, it brought The Society Cafe & Lounge, with granite tabletops, columns, and 15-foot windows. The cafe and lounge serves coffee, tea, cocktails, beer, and wine, as well as bar snacks, salads, and sandwiches.
Beginning this month, The Society Cafe & Lounge is teaming up with the Foster's Craft Cooking mobile oyster cart Oyster Social to offer oysters on the first Thursday of each month, to correspond with the First Thursday Art Walk. Call it a pop-up, or call it oysters and art, the monthly oyster smorgasbord will serve domestic oysters shucked to order. There will be plenty of cocktails and local beers and wines for sipping, too.
