Rapidly expanding Portland-based Blue Star Donuts will open its fifth local shop on October 8, reports the PBJ. Portland’s pillowy brioche-style doughnut king is taking over a lease at 672 S.W. Gaines St. in the South Waterfront neighborhood, and The O says it will be open seven days a week and start in the wee morning hours at 6:30 a.m. On opening day — as is the Blue Star way — you can score free doughnuts starting at 10 a.m. (one per person until supplies run out).
Blue Star Donuts has been opening shops left and right over the past year and a half, and it is slated to open a location inside of the Portland airport by this November, too — its sixth in Portland. The shop was founded in 2012 by Micah Camden and Katie Poppe, the restaurateurs who also established and sold Little Big Burger, and it also has a Los Angeles location and two offshoots, officially named Camden’s Blue Donuts, in Japan.
