After 14 years, Tabla Pasta E Vino will close the doors for good on December 3, owner Adam Berger tells Eater. Tabla is located in the busy dining hub, NE 28th Ave., just up the street from Tapalaya and Navarre, and it is known for its Italian pastas, especially its tajarin with truffle butter.
“We have made over 150,000 orders of tajarin with truffle butter and 50,000-plus orders of Tabla ravioli — each and every one made to order and simmered for exactly two minutes,” writes Berger in his farewell email. Over the years, Tabla also gave rise to accmoplished chefs, including Anthony Cafiero, who established Racion and most recently launched the food at The Bible Club in Moreland.
At the tail end of Berger’s email, he let this cat out of the bag: The Güero No. 1 Tortas food truck will take over the lease and open as a brick and mortar, serving bowls and tortas, including tortas for kids, made with responsibly sourced ingredients.
Before it’s all over on December 3, Tabla welcomes diners for dinner Tuesday through Saturday. Berger also runs the meatball-obsessed restaurant, now with two locations: 24th and Meatballs and 87th and Meatballs.
Here’s Tabla’s complete goodbye:
Hello Everyone,
As all good things must come to an end, Tabla will be serving it’s last meal.I would like to thank my family, my employees, my guests, and my vendors for 14 amazing years.
We have made over 150,000 orders of tajarin with truffle butter and 50,000-plus orders of Tabla ravioli — each and every one made to order and simmered for exactly 2 minutes. I will always remember the look on guests faces when they took that first bite.
Please join us one last time for a bowl of our delicious pasta. Please come in to say good bye to Byron, Blake, Sedona, and the rest of the crew. We would love to see all of you before we close the doors after service on Saturday, December 3. Call for reservations at 503.238.3777 or go online here.
If you have a gift certificate, please come in and use it.
And I know you are wondering… The awesome folks from Güero No. 1 Tortas down the block will be opening their first brick-and-mortar restaurant in the Tabla space. Stay tuned for details from Alec and Megan.
Again, thanks to all.
Adam
