Portland Chefs Compete in Girl Scout Cookie Competition | Corner Bakery Cafe Opens

Farm Spirit ramps up with more seatings and wine pairings

PORTLAND—Some of Portland's top female chefs have created recipes using Girl Scout Cookies, and you get to vote for your favorite creation, from Samoas & Pineapple Coconut Curry Ice Cream Sandwiches by Sarah Pliner of Aviary, to Chocolate Salami made with shortbread trefoils by Cathy Whims of Nostrana. Voting ends March 4. [EaterWire]

HILLSBORO—Today, the Corner Bakery Cafe franchise, which was founded in 1991 and has around 200 locations nationwide, opens its first Oregon location, at 19325 NW Emma Way in The Streets of Tanasbourne mall. The cafe will serve made-to-order items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the company tells Eater it ultimately plans to open 12 locations in Oregon and Vancouver, Washington. SOUTHEAST—The ground-breaking vegetarian chef's counter restaurant Farm Spirit has emerged from its winter break with more seating times, now beginning at 5:15 p.m. and ending at 8:30 p.m. You'll still need to make reservations at least 24 hours in advance, and Farm Spirit says it sometimes has last-minute openings, which it posts on its social media pages. Additionally, Farm Spirit now offers reserve natural wines pairings featuring rare, naturally made wines from places like the Canary Islands and Corsica. [EaterWire]
