NORTHEAST—Sam J. Reed is now manning the 900-degree, wood-fired pizza oven at Pizzeria Otto. Reed is an apt forager with local experience heading the kitchens at Cassidy's and The Hop & Vine, and he most recently served as sous chef at American Local. Reed cut his teeth working as lead line chef under chef Bruce Yim at Colorado's celebrated Sweet Basil, and according to Accanto executive chef Sean Temple, Reed's "the best chef in town nobody has heard of, yet." NORTHEAST—The Alberta neighborhood has a new lunch option on Fridays. The Italian tavern and sister restaurant to DOC, Nonna has typically focused on Italian happy hour and dinner dishes, but starting April 1, it's kicking off lunch, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., every Friday. [EaterWire]
NORTHWEST—Among the 'tini-swigging crew, Bartini's happy hour is legendary, serving up a massive menu of half-off martinis, most of which clock in at $4-5, and now its rolling out Taste-ini Tuesday. Taking place the first Tuesday of every month (the next is April 5), tastes of three seasonal martinis, like the Herbal Remedy, made with Belvedere, yellow Chartreuse, green tea, star anise, lemon, and Prosecco, will be available free-of-charge from 7 to 9 p.m. A three-course meal designed to pair with the martinis will also be on offer.
