When word first dropped that Pine Street Market would take over the historic, 10,000-square-foot Baggage and Carriage Building at SW 2nd Avenue and Pine, it seemed too good to be true. After months of delays, you may still think this, but hungry Portlanders, things just got real.
You can visit Pine Street Market tomorrow—and possibly even today. PoMo reports Ken Forkish's (Ken's Artisan Bakery) Trifecta Annex and John Gorham's (Toro Bravo, Tasty n Sons) Pollo Bravo are now up and running—softly. Trifecta Annex will serve sweet and savory breakfast croissants in the mornings and New York-inspired pizza for lunch. It hasn't released its April hours, so you'll have to try your luck for the next couple weeks, but Pollo Bravo has: It will serve its signature rotisserie chicken Tuesday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. until it sells out. The market officially opens May 1.
In a twist, the Oregonian reports that the Food + Juice concept from The Country Cat will no longer open inside of the market, which means there's a final restaurant TBA. For now, take a look at the photos from Friday's preview party above, and prepare for Common Law, the next restaurant expected to open softly inside Pine Street Market.
Other tenants inside of Pine Street Market are Wiz Bang Bar, the new soft-serve ice cream bar by Salt & Straw; Olympia Provision's Wurst, with a hot dog and sausage focus; Marukin, the second Portland location of the Japanese-based ramen franchise; John Gorham's Shalom Y'all, serving vegetable-forward Israeli food; and the haute Barista coffee bar's fifth location, which the O reports will be named Brass Bar.
