BELLEVUE—€”Last week, Eater Seattle reported that Bellevue's Din Tai Fung was nearly shut down after an unsatisfactory health inspection on April 4. Inspectors found multiple issues, all of which needed to be fixed before a follow-up inspection. Inspectors revisited the restaurant on April 14 and found that all the problems cited had been addressed, except for the handwashing facilities, which were again found to be inadequate. Inspectors again stamped the results as "unsatisfactory." This infraction is noted as "critical" by the health department, because it could lead to food-borne illnesses.

BELLTOWN—€”Spur Gastropub permanently shuttered in Belltown last Thursday. The restaurant opened eight years ago under chefs Brian McCracken and Dana Tough, and it's widely credited as a first-generation gastropub, a restaurant that emphasizes modern American food as much as its cocktail program. The restaurant also propelled the careers of McCracken and Tough, who went on to open Tavern Law, The Coterie Room, and The Old Sage; their co-venture seems to have fallen on hard times, though, and the duo's other businesses aren't faring much better lately.

PIKE PLACE MARKET—Co-owners Chris Moore and Brian Stan opened their Old Stove Brewing Company over the weekend inside Pike Place Market. Eater visited just before the grand opening of the taproom, which is actually in a temporary location; the goal is to move to the MarketFront expansion of Pike Place when that opens next year. Still, the team is settling in. Right now there are eight beers on taps fitted with antique stove handles and plenty of other vintage touches, like display cases with beer cans from the 30s, 40s, and 50s and a cast iron Kalamazoo stove from 1905.
