"More bones, more coffins, video games, and more fun!" reads the announcement on The Lovecraft Bar's website: The horror bar is set to add 2,000 square feet to its location at 421 SE Grand, essentially doubling the space and occupancy, according to WWeek. As announced, The Lovecraft will enlarge on its H. P. Lovecraft theme with even more creepy artworks, statues, and all-horror-all-the-time ghoulishness, and the pièce de résistance: an eight-foot-tall statue of Cthulhu, a cosmic creature that's part octopus, part man, and part dragon, invented by H. P. Lovecraft.
The Lovecraft is one of the city's hottest dance spots for those looking for strange, rocking 80s, 90s, goth, industrial, and more, and it's well-known for the "un-happy hour," which runs Sunday through Thursday, from 8 to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, from 4 to 8 p.m. In addition to cocktails, you'll find a solid selection of teas and a food menu. If permitting goes as planned, The Lovecraft will complete the expansion in June.
