Today, Portlanders living near NW 23rd Avenue have something to get excited for in addition to the sun and high temps. After bringing its fast-service handmade pasta for competitive prices to Portland in July 2013, Grassa will open its second location at 11 a.m. today. Located at 1506 NW 23rd Ave., inside of a former Pastini Pastaria, the second Grassa, nicknamed "Grassa Vol. 2," likely to reflect owner Rick Gencarelli's (Lardo) love of rock 'n' roll, brings new pasta dishes, Grassa's only happy hour, more beer and wine options, and twice the seating.

As the photos show above, the new Grassa has lots of seating, from communal tables to booths, and as at the West End Grassa, you'll order your meal at the counter. Three new pastas have been added to the Grassa menu in both Grassa locations: Squid Ink alla Chitarra, Peppercorn Tonnarelli, and Spring Pea Agnolotti. Additionally, you'll find the new Grassa happy hour, available only at the NW 23rd Avenue location, and a wider selection of local wines and beers. Happy hour kicks of this Monday, and it will run Monday through Friday, from 3 to 6 p.m.

Now open, Grassa "Vol. 2" serves food daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. (Note it will close a little early on opening day: at 5 p.m.)
