When local food writer Karen Brooks—then writing for the O—found Ha & VL's "labor-intensive regional soups" "built around vibrant, slow-simmered broths" in a SE 82nd strip mall in 2008, determined eaters soon swooned from those rich aromas, which often sold out by noon. Located at 6424 SE Powell, Rose VL is the second restaurant from the Ha & VL team, and thankfully, it brought dinner-time hours, when it opened last summer. Upping the game again, Rose VL is now serving lunch from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Saturday, Brooks reports from the PoMo desk.
Brooks says that in addition to its banh mi and iconic soups and Vietnamese iced coffee, Rose VL is serving rotating lunch plates (pictured below), which cost $10 across the board.
