One of Portland's newest rooftop patios, Altabira City Tavern overlooks the Moda Center arena. Home to Blazers basketball team and many of the biggest concerts and events in the city, the Moda Center draws big crowds to Altabira on event nights.
"Blazer nights on the patio are so much fun, especially when people are getting into pre-game mode near the fire pits," says assistant manager Whitney Price. "There's usually a contingent of the opposing team nearby, which makes for some spirited fan rivalry."
"During one of the Golden State playoff games," Price says, "I was chatting with a young boy by the fire pit wearing a Blazers hat. I asked him if he thought the Blazers were going to win. 'NO!' he exclaimed. He lifted his sweater to reveal a Golden State Shirt. Apparently he was trying to fly under the radar at the local Blazer bar. We let him stay anyway."
Eater photographer Katie Acheff hit up Altabira for game four of the Blazers and Warriors playoff series on Monday — a game that would see the Blazers ultimately fall prey to the Warriors' offense — to catch the scene as the sun set over Moda Center.
