Not two weeks since Eater announced the new Danwei Canting Chinese food pop-up, and the pop-up is already moving toward opening a brick and mortar. According to this liquor license application, Danwei could open at Southeast Stark and Sandy, inside of the new 811 Stark building.
The pop-up's kitchen is headed by former Bluehour executive chef Kyo Koo, who serves dishes that reflect the melting pot of cuisines found in Beijing—things like Ròujiā mó (Beijing-style "burgers" with glazed pork and cabbage) and Chǎo tǔdòu xiédài (spicy crispy shoestring potatoes). Danwei's first pop-up, to be held at Smallwares June 12, sold out in three hours.
Danwei hasn't confirmed the move, so stay tuned.
