Peek Inside Quaintrelle, Opening Wednesday on North Mississippi

The old Mac! Mac & Cheesery has been completely transformed

With sleek black walls, raw wood here and there, and hanging lighting reminiscent of candlelight, Quaintrelle officially takes over the Mac! Mac & Cheesery venue at 3936 N Mississippi Ave. this Wednesday, June 29. Fans of Mac! Mac & Cheesery will barely recognize the space. While the seating arrangement has been retained—a mix of indoor and outdoor table seating and a long bar—Quaintrelle is now upscale and chic.

"We're nicknaming it 'gourmet industrial,'" says Emily Everett, who owns Quaintrelle with partners Sandi and Daniel Wilkens. "The food is rustic yet sexy," she adds, "so we wanted the decor to complement our style of cooking."

Quaintrelle means "a woman who emphasizes a life of passion, expressed through personal style, leisurely pastimes, charm, and cultivation of life's pleasures," and Everett says she wanted a "sleek urban feel with feminine touches" to match the name. You'll also find photos from the many farms that chef de cuisine Bill Wallender works with throughout the restaurant. To recreate the space, Quaintrelle hired local designer, Kimberlee Jaynes Interior Designs.
