One of the swankiest restaurants in the Pearl District will soon be open under the midday sun: Irving Street Kitchen, helmed by formidable executive chef Sarah Schafer, is launching lunch (check out the sample menu below). Beginning Monday, June 6, Irving Street Kitchen will be open Monday through Friday, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

This news has "power lunch" written all over it. Many of the dishes come directly from the dinner menu, such as the Bibb Wedge salad with Glacier Blue Dressing and the Black Garlic Butter Steamed Manila Clams with Chicken Liver Mousse Toast, and you'll also find new salads, snacks, and mains, such as the Pressed Country Ham/Bacon and Cheddar Sandwich with Creole mustard.

Not into the three martini lunch? Irving Street is updating its non-alcoholic drinks, adding Thai-spiced lemonade and a basil soda involving something it calls a "strawberry-balsamic ice pop" (a new musical genre in the making?). But of course, there's a full bar and signature cocktails, as well.

Speaking of which, there's a Plate & Barrel lunch special: It pairs a chef's choice entree with a glass of wine from the restaurant's on-tap barrel system for $24. Allegedly, it's a good value, so take a look. The entree and wine will change weekly.

To get an idea for what'll be on offer, here's a prototype of the new Irving Street Kitchen lunch menu. The restaurant says it's overall pretty complete but there may be some small changes:
