"We are all set and will be opening for service today," Brandon Hill, director of operations at Bamboo Sushi, tells Eater, speaking about the new Bamboo Sushi The Annex. Located next door to Bamboo Sushi West, The Annex takes over the small venue formerly home to short-lived Hop Dog. It's offering grab-and-go service during lunch-time hours and will focus on Portland's latest food craze: Hawaiian poke, the dish of raw, cubed fish seasoned with everything from sesame oil to nori. But that's not all, intrepid diners: Bamboo Sushi The Annex will also serve nachos.
"We make them with spicy tuna, krab salad, yuzu guac, and a bunch of fixins on tortilla chips," says Hill. According to the menu below, they'll also come with eel sauce, fried shallot and garlic, and habanero masago (masago is fish eggs).
Bamboo's poke, as is currently the trend, will be served in bowl form. "We have a number of unique bowls that we have created as well as the option to create your own," says Hill. Start designing your ideal poke bowl with the menu below.
Hill tells Eater beer and sake "in closed containers" are available to purchase for take out, too. Located at 412 SW 12th Ave., Bamboo Sushi The Annex is now open from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily.
