Taking over the venue formerly Andy Ricker's Sen Yai, Honky Tonk Taco will open Monday at 11 a.m. at 3384 SE Division St., reports The O. The hotly anticipated 130-seat restaurant—replete with huge patio—comes from restaurateur Nate Tilden, the man behind such hotspots as Olympia Provisions, Clyde Common, Pepe Lo Moko, and The Richmond Bar, and chef Carlo Lamagna, executive chef of Clyde Common. Speaking with The O, Tilden and Lamagna say Honky Tonk will serve "deliciously inauthentic" tacos—as you can see for yourself on the menu below.
SE Division is already stuffed with tacos. Stella Taco opened May 2016, its Austin-style tacos joining tacos found at Division's Nuestra Cocina, Xico, and Mi Mero Mole. Will Divisiononians be able to handle the taco-splosion this summer?
Honky Tonk Taco is doing its best to stand out from the crowd, and Lamagna is adept at putting actual "twists" on things. The massive patio certainly seems poised for summer fun, and as Tilden told PoMo, the soundtrack of rock 'n' roll and old-style country, like Hank Williams, will be nonstop. Then there's the tequila and mezcal-heavy bar program, which The O now reports will include " seasonal slushies and pint-sized margaritas."
Scope it out for yourself with the menu below, which also includes things like quesadillas, queso fundido, and jicama ensalada. Beginning July 25, Honky Tonk Taco will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
