Tusk opens tonight, August 22, at 2448 E Burnside St., and the photos above give you a sneak peek inside. Featuring Middle Eastern-influenced meals by an experienced team of chefs and bartenders, Tusk takes over the former Levant venue, and while the layout remains the same, the all-white walls and tabletops reveal a brighter space punctuated by green cacti, blond-wood chairs, blond-leather booths, and a rather massive photograph behind the bar of Keith Richards in swim briefs taking a dip in a pool.
Tusk is the first restaurant from Ava Gene's owner and executive chef Joshua McFadden's new restaurant group, Submarine Hospitality. Tusk executive chef Sam Smith is promising a Middle Eastern-style menu inspired by the local farms he's working with.
Details around bar-star Tyler Stevens's (Teardrop Lounge) cocktails are still blurry, but Instagram reveals a Fino Sherry Spritz and Eastern Maid, a cocktail with Prairie Vodka, almonds, lemon, yogurt, cucumber, and rose water. Also on the Tusk team is celebrated pastry chef Nora Antene (Le Pigeon), and among her desserts, she's making soft serve sundaes with seasonal toppings, often with Middle Eastern flavors.
Tusk opens tonight at 5 p.m. to serve dinner nightly, with late-night menus kicking off at 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Brunch should launch September 3.
