While there's nothing wrong with Korean barbecue short rib and kimchi-stuffed burritos, KOi Fusion's original brick and mortar has shuttered, according to the notice taped to its door. Located at 3040 SE Division St., right beside Bollywood Theater, KOi Fusion's lovingly nicknamed KOi DStreet originally opened May 2014, and it closed its doors for good August 7, 2016.
Owner Bo Kwon has yet to be reached for comment, and there is no official reason for the shutter. SE Division Street has become a restaurateur war zone of late, with numerous openings and shutterings. Power-hitters Trent Pierce and Andy Ricker both closed restaurants on the street this year, and established restaurants like Stella Taco have opened. In short, SE Division's food scene gets rearranged on an almost daily basis.
Fans of KOi Fusion's bulgogi beef tacos, kimchi quesadillas, and those potent burritos still have five other locations to visit, from the food carts on Mississippi and near Providence Stadium, to kiosks at Washington Square and Bridgeport Village and its micro-restaurant in Bethany Village.
