MF Tasty Relocates Cart to North Williams

Making lemonade—with achiote and homemade chorizo

Yelp/MF Tasty

A couple of month’s back, MF Tasty’s Eric Gitenstein found himself in a predicament. He’d been given 30 days to vacate the food cart lot he shared with Gabagool and Tiffin Asha at the corner of Mississippi Avenue and Beech Street.

Rather than flounder at the unexpected news, Gitenstein put his head down and found a new home within a few short weeks, and has been operating MF Tasty out of a new spot at 3927 North Williams Avenue ever since.

That brief closure aside, Gitenstein has been operating MF Tasty for the last 18 months, but the idea for it stemmed from his cheffing days back in Phoenix, Arizona, circa 2010.

And while the forced move meant that he lost some seats—about 10—the cart still has room for 22 diners ready paw at the burritos, quesadillas, tortas and paellas that Gitenstein learned to cook during the decade he spent in the southwestern United States.

The bad new? MF Tasty has to reapply for its liquor license, so don’t expect to pair your eats with any wine or beer until at least January.

But there’s good news, too: Gitenstein has rolled out Taco Tuesdays, where you can try $3 tacos that come with made to order blue corn tortillas, and ingredients like Painted Hills ribeye asada.

And once the OLCC signs off on his new permit, Gitenstein plans on offering affordable tasting and pairing menus, too.

MF Tasty: 3927 N Williams Ave.
