With a place in the upper echelons of Portland sushi restaurants, Fukami Sushiya has been a go-to for many raw-fish fans since it opened one year ago — and even before that, when it was known as Hokusei. Now in an email to Eater, the Fukami team, led by chef-owner Cody Auger, says the restaurant will close on February 14, at 4246 SE Belmont St., but it hopes to reopen.
“We do plan to reopen in a different location, which is yet to be determined,” reads the email. “We have some hopeful prospects, but nothing solid as of yet.”
Until more details are revealed, you can get inside Fukami Sushiya for a final meal or two. “We would love to see all of our friends here one last time,” writes the Fukami team, “as we have built a lot of great memories with you all in this space. We will keep everyone updated on our next plan as soon as we know more.” Fukami Sushiya is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
