Update 1/19/17: Eater has connected with chef-owner Ryan Fox, who says it’s looking as though Nomad.PDX is more likely to open the first week of February. Snow delays, etc.

Original article, published 1/19/17: PoMo just released the article, “5 Restaurants to Watch in Winter 2017,” and tucked inside: an opening date for Nomad.PDX. Helmed by chefs Ryan Fox and Ali Matteis, Nomad.PDX is one of the most exciting restaurants currently on the horizon. According to PoMo’s coverage, Nomad.PDX will throw open the doors at 575 NE 24th St., on January 26. Eater has yet to verify the date, but it appears solid.

The restaurant started as a pop-up in 2014, with Matteis and Fox having both recently left positions as Portland’s leading modernist restaurant, Castagna. It quickly earned a reputation for its own brand of modernist cuisine — one that might feature foraged noble fir tips or a particular protein inspired by chef outings into the countryside.

Nomad.PDX moved into the Makeshift Room event space above Shift Drinks in June 2015 — the same year Eater PDX named it the hottest restaurant in the city. After a year, it then relocated to KitchenCru, before taking a break to focus on opening their restaurant. Truly, Nomad.PDX has earned its name.
