Thanks in part to new investment from Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group in 2017, Portland’s iconic Salt & Straw ice cream company will add another Portland-area location, the O reports: Salt & Straw will start scooping in a full-fledged ice cream shop at 100 A Avenue, in downtown Lake Oswego (just one block from Nola Doughnuts). The shop is expected to open inside of a new building in spring 2018.
Locally, Salt & Straw already has three locations, plus the soft-serve shop Wiz Bang Bar in downtown Portland. It’s beloved for its festive and, at times, freaky flavors, such as this year’s Halloween creations, like Dracula’s Blood Pudding, which combines spices with real blood pudding. But it also does the classics right — with the lines to get in to prove it.
Salt & Straw has a forthcoming Seattle location, and it recently threw open the doors to its first San Francisco shop. The forthcoming Lake O location will join these, as well as the Portland spots and five locations in the Los Angeles area.
