The two men behind the renovations of Sandy Hut, Double Barrel, The Alibi Lounge, Gold Dust Meridian, and now-shuttered Club 21, Warren Boothby and Marcus Archambeault are at it again with Lay Low Tavern. The bar takes over long-running Coasters, a neighborhood dive that held its last .50-cent taco night earlier this month. Located at 6015 SE Powell, Lay Low Tavern opened for dedicated sudsing March 17 and now operates seven days a week, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 a.m.
Lay Low delivers a new late-night option: The full menu (below) is served till close, nightly. Brunch plates like biscuits and gravy and “Dixie Chicken” with a fried egg are serve Saturdays and Sundays, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and happy hour runs Monday through Friday, from 2 to 7 p.m., and all day on Sundays.
The build-your-own-burger section lets you start off by choosing from a free-range Oregon beef burger, fried chicken, grilled chicken, or veggie burger. A basic breakfast option, wings with house-made sauces, and signature sandwiches round it out. Here are the full menus:
