Some of Portland’s biggest restaurateurs have made dramatic changes to their restaurants over the past year. Biwa moved to a new location on its 10th anniversary, and Jenn Louis shuttered her flagship Lincoln and opened Israeli-inspired Ray in its place. Likewise, Roe, the iconic restaurant formerly hidden inside now-closed B&T Oyster Bar on SE Division, announced a big change: relocating to Portland’s Westside.
Now the cat is out of the bag: Trent Pierce’s Roe will open inside The Morgan Building at 720 SW Washington St. 515 SW Broadway downtown, according to a press release from Urban Works Real Estate. The release doesn’t provide an exact opening date, but it does say Roe will open in 2017.
Pierce and co-chef Patrick Schultz are known for applying technical French and Japanese preparations to seafood, ensuring Roe is always in the running for Portland’s best seafood restaurant. For his work, Pierce is a three-time James Beard Award finalist for Best Chef Northwest, in 2014, 2015, and 2016.
