One of Portland’s best ice cream and sorbet shops opens its second location today, April 28. Fifty Licks will begin scooping its eggy, small-batch flavors at noon, at 2742 E Burnside, and as the photos show above, the new, 1000-square-foot ice cream parlor features a long birch counter for faster service as well as birch-wood booths, capable of seating 23.
“The new shop is built out of 20-percent birch and 80-percent sweat,” writes owner Chad Draizin on Facebook. Fifty Licks opened its first location on SE Clinton Street in 2013, and its follow-up will bring a bit more space but the same seasonal ice creams, sorbets, boozy sorbets, and ice cream floats — with a selection by the pint for grabbing on the go. The shop prides itself on using real ingredients and making the base for its ice creams in-house.
Starting today, Fifty Licks 2.0 operates Sunday through Thursday, from noon to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, from noon to midnight.
