Boke Bowl’s Boke Dokie Fires Up the Fryers on SE Hawthorne

The fried-chicken window sets up shop inside Rachel’s Ginger Beer

Those seeking flavor-packed fried-chicken sandwiches on SE Hawthorne now have an option with an Asian twist: Boke Dokie is now open inside Seattle-based ginger-beer sensation Rachel’s Ginger Beer, located at 3646 SE Hawthorne. This is already Boke Dokie’s fourth location since the Boke Bowl team launched the spin-off concept in May 6, 2016.

Inside Rachel’s Ginger Beer, Boke Dokie replaces Monica Dimas’s Sunset Fried Chicken, which struggled in the space and closed after four months. Boke Dokie will continue to serve its Asian-inspired fried chicken sandwiches.

Skeptics will wonder at the decision to replace the failed concept with a similar offering, but Boke Dokie has a strong following after only a year in business. Further, its gochujang sauce-slathered sandwiches come in a tofu version, with tasty side dishes like honey pie and more.

Step inside Rachel’s Ginger Beer anytime from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. to try it out. You order from the Boke Dokie window, located in the rear of the venue, past the many flavors of ginger beer and ginger beer cocktails (the former are available in growler form, too). Its other locations can be found inside the Portland Food Hall, in the Tidbits food cart pod, and on a rotating schedule at Providence Park.
