The Country Cat Dinnerhouse and Bar — Montavilla’s destination restaurant for all things Southern-cooking — now serves grab-and-go breakfast and lunch items out of its next-door events space, the Calico Room. The new offering, which does offer some seating onsite, is called Ferne and Holly, and it is now open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It’ll hold its grand opening on May 29, expanding its hours to 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
As the menus show below, Ferne and Holly will have a healthy focus, with smoothies, fresh-squeezed juices, breakfast bowls, and toasts in the morning. Keep your eye on the egg sandwich, served with sauteed shrimp, soft-scrambled eggs, and kimchi-cilantro slaw on a Parker roll.
For lunch, creative bowls come with fennel-crusted salmon or braised chicken. Ferne and Holly clearly has the gluten-free diner in mind, with options like zucchini-and-cucumber noodles.
The Country Cat already serves its brunch menu daily, starting at 9 a.m., so Ferne and Holly will be the place to hit when you’re looking for something on the run. No word yet as to how long it plans to stick around.
