The breakout food truck Bing Mi is expanding from its perch in downtown’s SW Alder and 9th pod: Owner Neal Grandy tells Eater Bing Mi 2.0 will set up shop in the food cart pod at 3405 SE 82nd Avenue (near the corner with SE Powell), and it could begin welcoming customers as soon as next week. “We’re waiting for one last inspection from the county,” writes Grandy.

Bing Mi has dazzled Portland palates since opening in 2015. It serves Chinese crepes called jian bing, a popular street food involving a massive crepe that’s great for either breakfast or lunch. It’s filled with egg and deeply flavorful sauces (fermented black bean paste, hoisin, and chili paste), with pickled vegetables, herbs, and crunchy wonton crackers.

Grandy says you’ll find the same single-item food menu at the second Bing Mi. When it opens, Bing Mi’s second location will operate Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The food cart pod is also home to La Cubana, and there’s seating onsite.
