The modern Mexican restaurant Alto Bajo is slated to open Wednesday at 300 SW Stark St., and the photos in the above gallery reveal a dusty interior of chestnut browns punctuated with cool blue booths and splashes of reds and oranges from artworks. Racks of wine combine with wooden floors, tabletops, and fixtures for a smart vibe.
The 1176-square-foot dining room at Alto Bajo seats 75, and the restaurant is located adjacent to the Marriot’s Hi Lo Hotel. A hallway connects it to the hotel’s Lo Bar, where, if there’s a wait, you can order a pre-dinner drink (and that same hallway also offers a backdoor entrance to Huber’s Cafe).
Alto Bajo comes from BPR Properties, which is best known for its many hotels, including the Hampton Inn Petaluma and Crowne Plaza Cabana. But it also has a handful of restaurants under its belt — most connected to its accommodations. They include Five, in Berkeley, CA, and Solaire Restaurant + Bar, in Santa Cruz.
Starting Wednesday, Alto Bajo will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner on weekdays and brunch and dinner on weekends.
