Replacing the Portland Penny Diner at 410 SW Broadway inside Hotel Lucia, The Crown is the new counter-service cocktail bar and New York-style pizza spot by powerhouse Portland chef Vitaly Paley (Paley’s Place, Imperial). It turns on the ovens this weekend, starting at 4 p.m., on Saturday and Sunday, for dinner, and on Monday, The Crown will begin serving slices and whole pies daily, from 11:30 a.m. to close.
In addition to seeing how Paley does pizza, The Crown promises some quality deals for anyone on a budget. A dealer’s choice shot and chaser costs $5, and three on-tap cocktails cost $5 during happy hour, offered daily from 2 to 6 p.m. Pizza is more mid-range, with a cheese slice costing $3.50 and whole 18-inch pies hovering between $20 and $27. See the full menus below.
The 750-square-foot space seats 62, and the remodel features design by Todd Conger of Shelter NW. Take a tour in the photo gallery above — complete with custom wallpaper by Mehran Heard of Eatcho. Here’s the lineup of classic and signature pizzas and cocktails:
