Having served microbrews and Chinese dishes since August 2014, BTU Brasserie and Brewery has closed for good, and there’s a new brewery taking its place, according to the New School Beer blog: Second Profession Brewing is aiming to open at 5846 NE Sandy Blvd. as soon as late-summer 2017. Second Profession is a joint project by Charlie Goman, who left a life of selling copiers door-to-door to start brewing beer, and Chase DeLashmutt.
Chris Bogart and Nate Yovu were the owners of BTU Brasserie and Brewery, and they earned a reputation for their unique offerings: Chinese plates prepared by chef Bogart and rice-based microbrews overseen by Yovu. The restaurant and brewery’s farewell message on Facebook hints at the possible return of its Chinese cuisine and craft beer. Updates will be published on Bogart’s Instagram.
Here’s BTU Brasserie’s complete Facebook farewell:
By now you've probably noticed BTU's absence in your life and know that we've been closed for some time. I'm glad to finally be able to make an official announcement of the sale of both the restaurant and brewery. We can not thank you, our patrons, enough for the amazing support you gave our little kitchen throughout the years. We'd also like to extend a heartfelt appreciation to the most excellent staff we've had a chance to work with. I'm looking forward to new and exciting projects and new iterations of Chinese cuisine and craft beer. Happy Summer! See what projects might be next over @chrisandcleaver on Instagram
