After a somewhat quiet spring, the Portland restaurant scene is on fire, and these four new restaurants and bars are all coming soon to the City of Roses.
Elvis Room
Location: 203 SE Grand Ave. (formerly the East End)
The Players: Warren Boothby, Marcus Archambeault
The Situation: The team behind Sandy Hut, The Alibi Lounge, Lay Low Tavern, and more is back at it again: Boothby and Archambeault have taken over the historic, two-story venue formerly known as the East End bar inside the Osborn Hotel building. They tell Eater it’ll be called the Elvis Room bar, with a lounge-y, rock and roll vibe and a food program inspired in part by the old menu at Club 21
Projected Opening: Last week of July or first week of August, 2017
Atlas Cider
Location: 115 NW 9th Ave.
The Players: Dan and Samantha McCoy
The Situation: Taking over a whopping 3,598-square-foot venue inside of the Pearl District’s new Couch 9 Building, Bend-based Atlas Cider will soon open its second Portland location, a taproom at 115 NW 9th Ave., according to a press release. The forthcoming taproom will set up shop near the Portland Brewery Blocks and follow on the heels of Atlas Cider’s Pop-Up Pub, which started pouring at Washington Square Mall in March 2017
Projected Opening: Spring 2018
Dil Se Indian Cuisine
Location: 1201 SW Jefferson St. (formerly West Cafe)
The Players: Ranesh Rajendran, Shamla Puthuparambil
The Situation: Coming from a team that’s known for its adeptly made dosas — large Indian-style crepes served stuffed or with dipping sauces — Dil Se will be a full-service Indian restaurant, WWeek reports. Chef-owner Rajendran also operates Tandoori Indian Kitchen, and he once cooked at what’s often considered the best Indian restaurant in Greater Portland, Beaverton’s Chennai Masala, which specializes in dosas. According to the liquor license, Dil Se will serve a full bar and offer lunch and dinner daily
Projected Opening: Any minute now
DC Vegetarian
Location: 5026 S.E. Division St. (formerly Mi Mero Mole)
The Players: Becky Leonard, Damien Gill
The Situation: Yep, there’s yet another vegetarian restaurant opening on SE Division. Following up on its popular downtown food cart, DC Vegetarian will bring American classics, like BLTs, burgers, and cheese steaks, in vegetarian and vegan form, for breakfast and lunch, according to the O. DC Vegetarian reports construction is slightly delayed via its Facebook page, and the initial opening date of summer 2017 could be pushed back
Projected Opening: Late summer or fall 2017
