Put on your blue suede shoes: “We open on Friday at 4 p.m.,” Elvis Room co-owner Warren Boothby texted Eater late last night. Coming from the team behind the Sandy Hut, Alibi Lounge, Lay Low Tavern, Gold Dust Meridian, and Double Barreland that tried to save Club 21 — the two-story Elvis Room is one of 2017’s most anticipated bar openings.

With the Elvis Room menus, Boothby and business partner Marcus Archambeault are sticking with their time-tested food and drink equations: nourishing dishes and powerful drinks for decent prices. Find the Club 21 build-your-own burgers (including a veggie burger) starting at $7, a hot chicken sandwich ($8), a blackened catfish sandwich ($9), and appetizers like crab cakes ($8) and grilled asparagus with parmesan and breadcrumbs ($7).

“We primarily use local ingredients,” says Boothby. “Not a lot of people know that. We also have essentially zero kitchen waste.”

Highlights on the Elvis Room drink menu are four $9 champagne cocktails and a $6 boilermaker, plus beers and ciders on tap. Happy Hour runs Monday through Friday, from 4 to 7 p.m., and all-day on Sunday.

Starting this Friday, August 11, Elvis Room will breathe new life into the two-year-dormant East End bar venue — just take a look at the American Gothic build-out — at 203 SE Grand Ave. It’ll operate seven days a week, from 4 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., with food available at all-hours.
