Furnishing Portland-style Japanese dishes for more than a decade, Gabe Rosen’s Biwa is on the move again, and, this September, it’s added bento boxes to the menu, reinstated Ramen Hour, and started shucking one dollar oysters.
Biwa’s new bento boxes include meat-y, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options for between $10 and $12. They’re available onsite, as takeout, or by delivery with Postmates daily, from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Biwa says the bento boxes are filled with “the best of our menu” — things like Japanese pickles, karaage fried chicken, salmon poke, onigiri rice balls, and fresh veggies.
Ramen Hour isn’t new: It’s one of the things Portlanders have loved about Biwa since it launched. Making its triumphant return from 9 to 10 p.m. daily, Ramen Hour delivers $5 bowls of ramen and udon noodles (available at the bar and counter areas only).
And to complete its trifecta of deals and dishes, Biwa is throwing its hat into Portland’s robust one-dollar-oyster game. Get those sexy bivalves for a buck any day of the week, from 5 to 6 p.m.
