While its Northwest cafe remains temporarily closed as a result of last October’s gas explosion, homegrown chocolatier Moonstruck Chocolate has found a creative way to serve the neighborhood. Moonstruck Chocolate will unveil a food truck with a chocolate center on September 23, in the vacant lot at NW 23rd and Glisan.
Like its cafes, the Moonstruck Chocolate Truck will serve its chocolates, hot chocolate, espresso drinks, and milkshakes studded with dark-chocolate ganache. There’s something new on the menu, too: Moonstruck ice cream bars dipped in Belgian chocolate, or Moon Dippers, designed by Moonstruck master chocolatier Julian Rose.
The Moonstruck Chocolate Truck will open at noon on September 23, and the first 50 people to line up will receive free Moon Dippers. The truck will also be available for catering. Moonstruck says its expects its cafe to reopen in 2018. Moonstruck was founded in the St. Johns neighborhood of Portland all the way back in 1993.
