One of Portland’s top breweries, Stormbreaker Brewing has taken over the venue at 8409 N. Lombard St. (formerly Plew’s Brews) in the St. Johns neighborhood, with plans to start pouring its hefty lineup of high-alcohol behemoths and balanced beers in spring 2018, according to the New School Beer blog. The 2400-square-foot brewpub will have a full kitchen and outdoor seating, with plans to add a brewery after it’s been around about a year.
At Stormbreaker’s flagship location on North Mississippi, the food program dares to go beyond the typical pretzel and beer cheese, with things like meat and cheese boards, decadent salads, Caribbean cod fritters, and a lamb meatball sub (but yeah, you can still get a soft pretzel with beer cheese...). There’s also the “Dinner from the Chef” option, featuring daily specials.
Co-owner Rob Lutz tells New School he’d wanted to take Stormbreaker Brewing to St. Johns since founding it in 2013.
